Dairy producers are no stranger to the plant-based movement making its way across the United States. California’s Dairy Council CEO Tammy Anderson-Wise says it’s important for dairy producers to engage in the conversation around food choices and to continue promoting dairy as an excellent option for consumers focused on healthy food consumption.
She says animal-based and plant-based foods should not be considered competitors but complementary food sources that can benefit consumers from nutrition, social, economic and environmental standpoints. A robust dairy industry relies on consumer demand, so having those essential conversations is one of the best ways dairy producers can support the effort.
