View of field of cord seedlings in springOverall corn planting fell to three percentage points behind the five-year average according to the latest USDA Crop Progress Report at 36% planted. Soybeans remain four points ahead at 25% planted. Emerged corn is currently three points ahead of the five-year average at 12% and soybean emergence is five points ahead at 9%.

Mississippi is leading in soybean planting with 67% of the crop planted. Arkansas follows closely by Arkansas with 65% of the soybean crop planted.

Planting conditions have not been favorable in North Dakota or Iowa. North Dakota currently sits at 11% of the corn planted and 3% of the soybeans planted. Iowa reports 47% of the corn planted and 30% of the soybeans.
