With USDA’s Prospective Plantings report coming in about two weeks, analysts are sharing their own estimates for this year’s corn and soybean crop sizes in a year when the marketplace is watching those numbers closely. Monday came the latest estimates from Allendale Inc., and the numbers dwarf 2020 acreage numbers and those released at the recent USDA Ag Outlook Forum. If Allendale’s estimates of 92.8 million acres for corn and 90.3 million for soybeans are realized, it will mark an over 7-million-acre increase in soybean plantings while the corn crop will be 2 million acres larger than 2020. USDA will release its 2021 Prospective Plantings report on Wednesday, March 31, at 11:00 AM CT (12:00 PM ET). See more from the latest estimates.
