It’s no secret the years-long uncertainty behind the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) has left the biofuels industry — and corn and soybean farmers — weary of EPA support. In an exclusive Reuters article earlier this week, EPA is allegedly planning significant cuts to RFS blending levels. Agriculture Sec. Vilsack has commented that any stability, even in lower amounts, is good for the industry after a litany of oil refinery exemptions plagued biofuels producers throughout the Trump adminstration. Sen. Grassley, while cautioning the cuts are just rumors at this point, voiced his concerns about the impact it could have to ethanol and biodiesel markets.
