The recent outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza across multiple states has officially impacted 7.65 million birds as of this weekend, according to USDA. The virus has hit laying hens the hardest, accounting for more than two-thirds of the toll. Reported over the weekend was a flock of more than 915,000 laying hens in Southern Iowa, and just over 664,000 hens in Northeastern Maryland.
