Brazil shared this week that the country’s corn exports might only be able to go to China in 2023. According to an agriculture ministry official, the change would be due to demands from Beijing regarding trade protocols. The request comes from China’s desire to monitor weeds and fungi in corn crops and says the request is common with sanitary agreements.

Brazil’s agriculture secretary said corn growers who wish to export to China will need to conform and report conditions of the crop and the control tactics used against pests and diseases.
