Between the summer grilling season and winter holidays, autumn is normally a time of declining beef demand and prices. That’s been true thus far this fall, but with all the black swan-driven market movement in the last few months, it’s difficult to forecast whether the winter bounce will happen or not, one beef specialist said earlier this week. Consumer angst about COVID-19 and other macro-level uncertainties have many processors, restauranteurs and retailers questioning whether their customers will “open their wallets” when the higher-demand season rolls around.
