Wind mill against a blue sky on a farm in TexasA set of clipper systems will be moving through the U.S. this week, bringing with them precipitation and strong winds. Clippers usually bring a quick change to colder temperatures, but El Niño will stave off the cold in favor of warmer-than-normal February temperatures. Clippers form when a western Canadian ridge meets a trough over eastern Canada.

The effect brings disturbances that move between the two area that then travel down into the Great Lakes region. Areas of the Central U.S. could expect to see bands of precipitation, and most can count on high winds.
