Ukraine’s western border may see expanded export facilities this summer as the country is ramping up efforts to grow export capacity by 50%. According to the deputy infrastructure minister, Ukraine will still fall far short of pre-war levels despite the effort.

Before the invasion, more than ten seaports carried 75% of the country’s foreign trade. The minister said they’ve already quadrupled the trade volume through the Danube ports, including 3.5 million tonnes of cargo transported by rail last month. Even with the growth expected, the largest trade capacity will not be able to handle even half of the volumes the country transported through seaports pre-Russia.
