Train speeding pastOvernight talks have spurred a tentative agreement between major railroads and rail worker unions. The agreement means the postponement or canceling of a nationwide strike that would have stopped rail transportation this week across the United States. President Biden announced the labor deal was brokered by Labor Secretary Martin Walsh and marks a win for rail workers and the overall U.S. economy.

The deal also qualms fears over what could have been a huge wrench in the U.S. crop harvest season. The strike would have also meant an immediate increase in food, fuel and other prices as inflation continues to climb. Details on the deal were not released, but President Biden reports they are a major win for the tens of thousands of rail workers involved in the unions.
