Tomatoes have consistently kept a top spot among household produce favorites. Only next to the tried-and-true apples and bananas, tomatoes routinely edge out potatoes, carrots and onions as 3 out of 5 grocery shoppers go home with the item each trip. To capitalize on consumer preference, tomato producers can dig deeper into those shoppers.
According to the latest round of research from Execulytics, there’s a good chance those shoppers are female. Additionally, the survey reported 76% of females 50 or older report purchasing tomatoes. But what makes those consumers tick? The right price goes a long way. Mature, female shoppers are attracted to price first and taste second. To put it simply, price your tomatoes in a friendly fashion and shoppers will reward you.
