The June 15 USDA Crop Progress Report shows that Louisiana and Minnesota have both completed soybean planting. An estimated 93% of the soybean crop across the top soybean-growing states has now been planted.

Across these 18 states, 84% of the crop has emerged. This is 1% ahead of the five-year average. The soybean crop is rated at 66% good to excellent, 27% fair and 7% poor to very poor.

The country’s top 18 corn-growing states report 94% of the crop has emerged. That is on track with the five-year average. North Carolina corn has reached 100% emergence. The crop is rated at 72% good to excellent, 23% fair and 5% poor to very poor.

The report forecasts that 93% of the winter wheat crop across the top 18 states has headed. Half of these states report that 10% of the crop has been harvested. That is 6% behind the five-year average. The crop condition is 52% good to excellent, 29% fair and 19% poor to very poor.

The top six spring wheat-growing states report that 89% of the crop had emerged. That is 3% behind the five-year average. Montana and North Dakota are the two states that have not yet reached 100% emergence.

Four of the six states report that 4% of the crop has headed. This is 2% behind the five-year average. The current condition is 57% good to excellent, 34% fair and 9% poor to very poor.
