U.S. Bread, Donut Makers Want Biofuel Requirements Reduced

Baked breadRepresentatives from America’s biggest baking companies recently voiced concerns to the EPA regarding newly increased biofuel requirements, citing worries that biodiesel mandates will raise costs to make donuts, bread, and other foods and ultimately harm already struggling consumers. The cost increase could occur based on soy and canola oil suppliers – staple ingredients in many foods – running short of stocks by the end of the year due to biofuel demands.
