The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) released its monthly report on combine and tractor sales in the United States. According to the report, combine sales in October were up 77.4% compared to the same time period in 2021. By the numbers, 1,678 combines were sold last month across the country. Combine sales have been strong for the first ten months of 2022, up 16.2% compared to 2021.
Sales for tractors featuring more than 100 horsepower were also up in the monthly report. However, total farm tractor sales were down 10.8% in October compared to the previous year. For the year to date, total U.S. tractor sales are down 14% compared to 2021. Much of this decline is due to a drop in sales for tractors with less than 40 horsepower and those between 40 and 100 horsepower. Sales for tractors with more than 100 horsepower were up 13.9% in the first ten months of 2022.
