The U.S. dairy industry continues to grow relationships around the world. These efforts have been rewarded with a whopping 469,000 metric tons of cheese exports predicted for 2023. When converted to pounds, exports could topple 1.03 billion pounds in sales to international customers, a significant threshold after sales had already pushed past a long-standing 2014 record of 886 million pounds.

Overall, 2022 was a banner year where cheese export values were up a notable 26%. While the U.S. clearly holds down first place as the world’s largest cheese-exporting country, other countries include New Zealand with 789 million pounds, Belarus with 657 million pounds and Australia at 346 million pounds.
