Announced the close of 2022, the USDA announced a $9.5 million investment to support the development of new sustainable bioproducts. The funding will go toward three current successful projects who research and develop value-added products from agricultural commodities.
The Bioproduct Pilot Program is a unique opportunity to spur economic activity in rural areas while adding value to U.S. ag products. The program also supports the objectives of President Biden’s recent Executive Order on Advancing Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing for a Sustainable, Safe, and Secure American Bioeconomy. The three recipients of the funds are Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Soylei Innovations in Ames, Iowa.
