ProAg news featuring USDAA new online tool is available for U.S. farmers and ranchers impacted by this year’s severe drought to help document and estimate potential payments from USDA. The program is a part of the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-raised Fish Program (ELAP). After drought stressed much of the country’s ranchers, USDA updated the program to include drought-related transportation costs, as well as lower the threshold for when water hauling assistance is available. The tool requires Microsoft Excel, and a tutorial video is available at www.fsa.usda.gov/elap. USDA will begin accepting applications for the program later this fall. Read more on ELAP here.
