Corn field blown downThe USDA will be providing $1 billion to producers who filed claims through the Quality Loss Adjustment (QLA) program and the Hurricane Indemnity Program Plus (WHIP+) starting June 15. These programs were originally set up for producers who experienced losses in 2018 and 2019 natural disasters but will continue to provide funds for future weather-related losses. For eligible crop losses, producers who applied for and received their first WHIP+ payment can expect to receive the additional second payment beginning in mid-June. In order to qualify for future relief, recipients must purchase federal crop insurance or Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) coverage at the 60% coverage level or higher for the next two available crop years. QLA participants may also meet the insurance coverage requirement by purchasing a Whole-Farm Revenue Protection policy. Get more details on upcoming QLA and WHIP+ payments.
