Crop scouting for insects or pests in corn fieldThe USDA is accepting nominations for farmers and ranchers interested in serving on local Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committees, which help guide the administration of federal farm programs at the local level. According to the USDA, committee members play an important role in decisions related to disaster assistance, conservation programs, commodity support programs, county office operations and other agricultural issues affecting producers in their communities. Nominations will be accepted for the 2026 election cycle until August 3.

The committees are made up of local producers who serve three-year terms and provide direct input on program delivery in their counties. USDA encourages eligible producers who participate or cooperate in USDA programs to consider running for a seat, noting that more than 7,700 agricultural producers currently serve on FSA county committees nationwide. Election ballots will be mailed to eligible voters later this year, with newly elected members taking office in January 2027.
