The USDA announced plans to purchase up to $263 million in dairy products and specialty crops directly from American farmers under its Section 32 authority, with goods to be distributed through food banks and federal nutrition assistance programs. The purchases include a range of dairy items such as butter, cheese and milk, alongside dry beans, lentils, pecans, pears and other specialty commodities, fueling immediate demand in farm markets.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says the effort will help support farm income, sustain rural jobs and strengthen the nation’s food supply by turning harvests into meals for families in need.
