Wagyu beef is held in high esteem all over the world, and particularly on U.S. coasts and Japan, where the tradition is deeply engrained in Japanese culture. Analysts expect Japan to ramp up their beef exports as part of the country’s goal to increase exports to $49 billion by 2030. Competition will only become more rampant, as Australia is also stepping up their beef competitiveness particularly through beef they coin as “Aussie wagyu”. Attendees at the 2021 American Wagyu Association annual conference were told U.S. beef producers will need to get creative and determined if they want to take advantage of the predicted increase in worldwide beef demand.
