Walmart is building a beef processing and packaging facility in Olathe, Kansas. The new facility represents a $257 million investment for the retail chain. It will eventually process and package meat from Sustainaible Beef LLC, which Walmart first took a minority stake in August 2022.
Once finished, the facility is expected to process up to 1,500 head per day. According to Walmart, the Olathe location will help ensure customers have access to Angus beef. It is also expected to create more than 650 new jobs over the next decade
