Recent USDA data and analysis from the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) show gross farm income, net farm income and net cash income are highest this year in areas with higher-value crops and high concentrations of livestock. Demand destruction from trade disputes in the last two years as well as natural disasters like flooding, drought and severe summer weather have trimmed farm output in some areas, but federal support through direct payments or disaster assistance have helped offset some of those factors’ economic damage. This new AFBF report shows how each state’s ag sector is faring, accounting for variables like government payments.
