Growth Energy Will Serve As National Teach Ag Day Live Celebration Host

Growth Energy, the largest trade organization for U.S. ethanol producers and supporters, will host the 2016 live National Teach Ag Day celebration at one of their affiliate sites, POET LLC, in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Thursday, September 22. National Teach Ag Day recognizes agriculture teachers for their positive impact and encourages others to pursue a career as an agriculture teacher.

Agricultural education is the premiere model for delivering hands-on instruction, leadership development, and experiential learning to students in more than 8,000 classrooms every day. At the heart of the agricultural education programs are agriculture teachers who are inspiring the next generation of leaders, problem solvers, entrepreneurs and agriculturalists. “Agriculture teachers make learning come alive for students of all backgrounds and abilities,” said Ellen Thompson, National Teach Ag Campaign Project Director. “The demand for agriculture teachers has never been greater as we look to the next generation to solve our most pressing environmental and food security issues.”

The live webcast event will include special appearances by leaders in agriculture and agricultural education, panels of current and future agriculture teachers, satellite location feeds across the country, and a future agriscience teacher symposium. There will be opportunities for individuals celebrating across the nation to join in through social media and video conferencing.

“Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders in agriculture, and no one prepares them to rise up and meet the challenges that lie ahead like ag teachers,” said Tom Buis, Growth Energy Co Chair and Acting CEO. “We’re proud to support National Teach Ag Day and invest in the next generation of hard workers who will fuel America and feed the world.”
